Duolingo's Microservice Journey
About the event
Applications built on a microservices-based architecture and packaged as containers bring several benefits, but also some pitfalls. In this session, Duolingo, a popular language-learning platform, describes its journey from a monolith to a microservices architecture and its experiences building a global product in the cloud.
Max has been involved in the open source community since the late 90's and fondly remembers his Linux desktop not crashing during the Y2K rollover. After studying Telecommunications, VoIP, and network security at the undergraduate and graduate level, he went on to work for many Pittsburgh-based institutions and startups. He now manage's Duolingo's Operations team, which is responsible for infrastructure stability and security.
