Be the "Bootstrap": Using Privilege to the Benefit of Others

Exception Stage

About the event

Recognizing privilege is a good first step towards the road to allyship for underrepresented groups, especially in software. As with many things though, it is necessary but not sufficient for improving equity, inclusion, and acceptance. In this talk, we'll discuss ways of using privilege and platform within your company to amplify the voices and presence of those who deserve it most, yet receive in the least. A single talk cannot hope to fix or provide solutions to all the problems, but the goal is to provide actionable tools and resources to encourage communication, empathy, and further discussion in your team, company, and the software community as a whole.
